DIESELR EGR Upgrade Kit (2013-2021 Cummins 6.7L - CAB & CHASSIS)

The Cummins 6.7L EGR Upgrade Kit for 2013-2021 cab and chassis trucks replaces the factory exhaust gas recirculation loop on Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cab models. Every plate, bracket and fastener is cut for the chassis cab layout, which mounts and routes differently from the 2500/3500 pickup. The pickup version does not bolt up in its place.

These are SCR trucks. From 2013 the NOx adsorber was replaced by urea SCR, so 2013 through 2021 run EGR, a diesel oxidation catalyst, a DPF and an SCR system that requires DEF.

Why the factory loop becomes a service item

The EGR cooler runs hot exhaust gas against engine coolant. Its internal tubes crack from constant thermal cycling and leak coolant into the intake or exhaust, which shows up as unexplained coolant loss, white exhaust, a sweet smell and overheating. The valve pintle carbons up from recirculated soot and sticks, and that carbon buildup is the number one cause of a P042E code, along with rough running and poor throttle response. Both are high-mileage wear items and incidence rises past roughly 100,000 miles.

On an off-road truck, replacing the loop takes out the coolant-side failure point and the carbon-fouling valve, restores intake airflow, and keeps recirculated soot out of the intake tract.

What the kit does

The kit blanks the intake side, the exhaust side and the coolant side of the factory loop, and supplies the gaskets and mounting hardware needed to complete the install on a chassis cab truck.
