The S&S Diesel Motorsport® Fuel Leak Prevention Kit Plus is the complete version for 2011-2016 Ford 6.7L Power Stroke trucks: the billet aluminum engine-mounted filter housing, the aluminum injector return fitting, and the chassis-mounted cartridge filter, so the truck leaves with the whole filtration circuit fresh rather than half of it.
The 6.7L runs two fuel filters. Replacing only the engine-mounted one leaves the chassis filter on its original service clock, which is why this kit exists. Everything in the standard kit applies here without exception.
Features
- Everything included in the Fuel Leak Prevention Kit
- Billet aluminum engine-mounted fuel filter housing
- Replaces the crack-prone plastic OEM filter housing
- Aluminum Fuel Leak Prevention Fitting replaces the brittle plastic OEM injector return fitting
- Adds a Donaldson cartridge-style chassis-mounted replacement filter
- Complete fuel filtration upgrade and refresh in one kit
- Made in the USA
What's Included
- Billet aluminum filter housing assembly
- Donaldson P584171 engine-mounted spin-on fuel filter
- Donaldson P584946 chassis-mounted cartridge fuel filter with seal
- Aluminum Fuel Leak Prevention Fitting for the injector return
- Mounting hardware
Filtration Specifications
- Engine-mounted spin-on: 4-micron absolute at 99% efficiency (OEM-spec)
- Dirt-holding capacity: 23 grams, against 12 grams for the factory element
- Filter supplier: Donaldson
- Mounting: retains the factory filter location
Chassis-mounted cartridge filter
- Filtration: 10-micron nominal (OEM-spec)
- Dirt-holding capacity: greater than 40 grams (OEM-spec)
The chassis filter in this kit is the cartridge style used on 2011-2016 trucks. It does not interchange with the 2017 and later panel-style filter. Confirm the model year before ordering.
Why it matters on the 6.7L Power Stroke
The Bosch CP4.2 high-pressure pump runs on every 6.7L Power Stroke from 2011 forward, and it depends on diesel fuel itself for lubrication. North American ULSD already sits at the dry edge of what that pump was engineered around, which is why a CP4 failure tends to be total rather than gradual: the pump grinds itself and sends fine steel debris downstream through rails, lines, and injectors. Filtration margin is not cosmetic on this platform. It is inexpensive insurance against the single largest financial exposure the engine carries.
The factory plastic filter housing is a separate problem with the same root cause as other known 6.7L plastic failures, including the degas bottle and the cold-side charge-air pipe: sustained under-hood heat cycling. Plastic that has been through a decade of heat cycles cracks. When this one cracks, it leaks diesel onto a hot engine.
Fitment is listed by model year and engine. Confirm your configuration before ordering. Installation is straightforward for a competent shop or an experienced owner, but this is a fuel-system component: it must be assembled clean, torqued correctly, and leak-checked before the truck returns to service.
