The GDP Bolt-On Traction Bars Kit is designed to control axle wrap and improve rear-end stability on 2001–2019 GM 2500HD and 3500HD trucks. Under heavy acceleration or towing loads, leaf spring suspension can allow the axle housing to rotate, causing wheel hop, reduced traction, and driveline stress. This system limits unwanted axle movement while maintaining normal suspension articulation.
This is a true bolt-on design that does not require welding or permanent chassis modification. The kit mounts directly to the frame and axle assembly using application-specific brackets.
What Traction Bars Address
- Axle wrap under acceleration
- Wheel hop during high torque launches
- Driveline vibration caused by axle rotation
- Inconsistent traction when towing or hauling
By stabilizing the rear axle, traction bars help maintain consistent tire contact and improve overall driveline control.

Why Axle Wrap Control Matters on Diesel Trucks
High-torque diesel engines can induce significant axle rotation under load. Without proper control, this can lead to:
- Premature U-joint wear
- Leaf spring fatigue
- Reduced traction consistency
- Increased drivetrain stress
A properly installed traction bar system helps maintain driveline geometry during torque events.
